As I read the Kindle Fire announcement this morning, I went to Amazon and pre-ordered one. I know that they'll have something better next year, but that's always the technology story.
I've been a Kindle user since the original one came out and I go nowhere without it in my purse.
I'm a little disappointed that Fire only works with WiFi, but WiFi is more widely available now and I can always use a WiFi hotspot on my laptop if necessary. Of course, if I'm near my laptop, I can download anything I want and see it on the Kindle Fire!
I think the price is a real market definer. Wayne Rash thinks so too and writes a really good article on that point.
Look for lots of 7" Android tablets to drop their prices for the Xmas season. Remember this is color for $199 -- not sure what you get except great access to Amazon merchandise -- books, magazines, movies, etc. It's not clear what other apps might be available -- that should become clearer before Fire's shipping date of November 15. 6 weeks! I can't wait.
Finally a good sub $200 tablet! I have been waiting for this for a long long time.
